PhD Studentship in Epidemiology, The Netherlands

05 Mar 2009

Via jobs.ac.uk. The cancer epidemiology group of the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI-AVL) are looking for a PhD student to carry out a project on breast cancer risk and other late effects following treatment with radiotherapy and chemotherapy for Hodgkin lymphoma. The project involves data analysis of a large multicenter cohort of Hodgkin patients treated between 1965 and 1995 (n=3100) and data collection and analysis of a nested case-control study on breast cancer risk factors (including treatment-related and reproductive factors). The case-control study will include an estimated 150 cases with breast cancer after Hodgkin lymphoma and 450 matched controls with Hodgkin lymphoma who did not develop breast cancer. The case-control study is also part of an international EU funded project. The project is carried out in close collaboration with several clinicians and molecular biologists studying gene-radiation interactions in a related project. Further details can be found at the website below; the closing date for applications is 31 March 2009.
