Three posts in new functional foods research programme at Teagasc, Ireland

Teagasc, the Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority, is Ireland’s leading public agriculture and food research organisation. Teagasc is embarking on a major expansion of its functional foods research programme and is currently seeking to fill key senior positions to lead the programme. The following permanent posts will be filled by open competition with a closing date of 28 July 2008. They will based in Teagasc Moorepark Research Centre, Fermoy, Co. Cork. Cell Biologist – Obesity: Required to participate in a programme of obesity research that will focus on underlying mechanisms which influence lipid metabolism and fat storage in an effort to identify key factors which contribute to obesity. Cell Biologist/Endocrinologist: Required to participate in a research programme that will examine the underlying mechanisms which influence satiety in the human gut in an effort to identify key contributors to the nutrient-induced endocrine response. Scientist – Microbial Genomics: Required to participate in a research programme focused on the area of nutrition and gut microbiology. This will involve the application of a range of genomic and bioinformatics approaches to study the complexity of the human gut microbiota and how it may be influenced via targeted nutrition.
