The project will investigate the role of AMP kinase (AMPK) signalling in skeletal physiology. The objectives are to identify the metabolic activators of AMPK in bone cells, to determine whether AMPK activity is involved in bone cell differentiation and function, and to establish whether AMPK signalling mediates the effects of antidiabetic drugs on bone cells. The position will involve cell cultures, in vivo experiments in rat, molecular and cellular biology techniques, as well as bone histology and micro-CT analysis.
The department is seeking a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in biological or biomedical science with experience in cell/molecular biology.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to contact Dr Chantal Chenu (email: cchenu@rvc.ac.uk; tel: +44 (0)20 7468 5045) for more information. The deadline for applications is Friday 25 June 2010.
