Research Councils UK have opened applications to ten grants for UK higher education institutions to develop and run public events inspired by the forthcoming 2012 Olympic Games.

The events should be aimed at communicating the role of science and medicine in sport, and should be free to attend and accessible to a variety of non-specialist audiences.
