Orphan drugs: BMJ feature and open letter to the Prime Minister (NeLM News Service, 17 November 2010)

A group consisting of UK consultants and a patient representative has written to the UK Prime Minister and Health Secretary to urge action over the current EU legislation on orphan drugs for 'rare diseases', which they say are being exploited to drive up prices.

The open letter, published in the British Medical Journal, is accompanied by discussion of orphan drug regulation in Europe and the US.
