The Tide Tables - new UK tour

13 Apr 2011

The Tide Tables is a play that explores the conscious experiences of mid-life for women and the biomedical science that underlies these experiences. A pilot production of the play supported by the Wellcome Trust and the Society for Endocrinology took place in May 2009, and following its success, Christine Watkins of Honeysuckle Direction has now won further backing to allow the Tide Tables to go on tour in the UK this year. Scientific input for the play was provided by Professor Saffron Whitehead, St George's University, London.

Holidaying alone for the first time, Elin finds the landscape of her own heart and body being laid bare by the retreating sea. But keeping her company on the shoreline are the determinedly cheerful Beach Radio quartet and a strange lifeguard with advice on how to navigate a rapidly turning tide…

“Entertaining, witty and fascinating… ”

“A show which makes the pituitary gland work effectively as a lyric!”

The performance contains a powerful original score by Sianed Jones and sparkling acapella songs from Mary Keith and Beach Radio. Workshops and discussion about the themes raised in the play will take place in Aberystwyth.
